Working with Parents

Teamwork & Relationships
COOL UK endeavours to build links with parents / carers wherever possible as we believe that to move forward positively with a pupil, half the battle is won with parental support. We recognise that a successful home-school relationship can be a key element in making COOL UK stronger and more effective. In particular, it can make a real difference for groups of underachieving pupils and their families.
COOL UK works with parents / carers to ensure that it meets the educational, emotional and social needs of its students. Telephone calls and structured informal visits are a welcome and important means of communication between home, school and other agencies in working with the young person. We provide other important information by letter, regular news sheets and reports. We invite parents / carers and other agencies to visit on 'open days' at the end of the Autumn and Spring Terms.
We recognise that we are working with challenging behaviour which parents have witnessed often from their children. We aim to contact parents on a regular basis to pass on positive comments about the progression of their child. We will avoid at all cost passing on regular negative comments as we feel that many parents have had to accept this throughout the young person's educational past.
